Darren Oates Fine Furniture.Com

Darren is located in Windsor, NSW and has been working with timber for
fifteen years.  His furniture is unique, usually having some laminated form
incorporated into the design, a process which he engages in from the
drawing board to final finishing, thus allowing for individual works.

Darren’s work reflects traditional woodworking methods of dovetail and
mortice and tenon joinery that gives his work strength and integrity.

His extensive use of Australian native timbers allows him to explore the
unique qualities found in Eucalyptus and other native species. The creation
of smaller scale pieces in the form of jewellery and document boxes allows
him to incorporate exotic local and imported species into his designs.

Darren concentrates his efforts on speculative furniture and takes on a
limited number of commissions throughout the year.

Commissions come from far and wide with most work coming from the
eastern & northern suburbs of Sydney, Canberra & Southern Highlands
and Brisbane.   Commissions can be undertaken on line.   Most of Darren's
commissions are carried out this way with him only meeting the clients
upon them receiving the completed piece.   After  receiving a brief from a
prospective client, Darren will design a piece which will then be emailed so
that feedback can be sent back, to which changes can then be made to the
design.   This may happen half a dozen times before the client is happy with
the piece, and then a final quote can be given.Of course you are most
welcome to come down to Windsor and meet him in his workshop to
discuss a piece.
